Green School

My kids aren't in school full-time yet but my three year old does go to preschool and I am very concerned and worried about what they use to clean with. Bleach and water and other chemicals including phosphate dishwasher detergent. This is not good for our little ones. I have a teaching degree and almost a masters in early childhood education and I know that their little brains are developing and soaking in all of that bad stuff. He's on the floor, toys are in his mouth and the plastic cups he's drinking out of taste like bleach so he's eating bleach. Yum. How do we not freak out as parents? How can we shield out little babes but not be too extreme? It's hard.

I've found a great resource for parents. It's a non-profit organization called Healthy Schools Campaign and through this organization there is free publications with at DVD you can access to give to your school director, PTA/PTO or principal. It's a quick guide that gives resources and practical information so that you don't seem like a nut case. I suggest all parents who are worried about what their child's school is using for cleaning supplies get one of these guides.
