Don't believe climate change is happening? Read this!
Just yesterday the BBC reported, scientist traveling with Canadian troops discovered a network (more than one folks) of cracks in the areas largest arctic ice shelf, Ward Hunt. New cracks you wonder? YES! This is a clear indication to the scientists that climate change is indeed happening. If you didn’t believe it before you should read the full article for more details and information. Proof that we need to do something and moms, every little thing we do counts. It all adds up.
Moms + Strollers = Stop Global Warming or we'll run you over!
Give a few thousand moms a mission and they’ll get it done! Seriously, don’t mess with a bunch of moms and their strollers! Green Peace has an movement taking place called, Project Hot Seat and the idea is to get off you’re your bum and do something! On Mother’s day between Greenpeace, 1Sky, and True Majority over 455 events were scheduled on mother’s day to show congress that we want change! Our children need clean air to breath, non-toxic choices, safe drinking water and darn it all a health planet! Head on over to Project Hot Seat and find out who your legislator is and how you can do something. I don’t even have a mommy meet up event listed in my State (gasp) so you know what I need to get working! Okay, at least get my friends to start something! Listen to some very motivational testimonials from moms just like us!
Imagine a chunk of ice, seven times the size of Manhattan collapsing and breaking off of a glacier. My husband and I honeymooned in Alaska and we took a glacier cruise where we saw part of a glacier break off and it was so loud I jumped. It was probably only the size of one Manhattan apartment and it was loud! This enormous ice chunk that has broken off, 15 years sooner then scientists expected is what I would call a “loud” wake up call. A report by, CNN , mentions how it’s natural for ice to break off but not of this size, however it is being coming more common due to global warming. In 1995 and 2002 there were more dramatic collapses but nonetheless, a reminder to all of us to that global warming is real. CNN has a great video and satellite pictures of this breaking news and unfortunately something we will see more of. Wondering how we you will be impacted? How about rising sea levels and climate changes, all of which have consequences for us whether we are near the artic or not. Keep making greener, healthier, more natural choices and doing your part to walk a little lighter on our planet.
I got an email today from the National Wildlife Federation to take a pledge to be a good neighbor and help stop global warming. Hmmm? Being a good neighbor and helping to stop global warming all in the same sentence…how cool is that? That’s like having your cake and eating it to. For $15 you take the pledge to do little things like cut your shower time (which can save $130 annually), use an energy efficient light bulb, recycle or some other small thing. You get a sticker for your window so everyone knows what you’re trying to do and maybe they’ll join you and be a “good neighbor”! They’ll give you stickers to remind you to turn off the lights, an e-newsletter for tips and pointers on going green and a reusable water bottle. That’s a lot for $15 but they don’t just have you send them $15 and call it good enough. Nope you have to actually pledge and commit!
If you’re serious they make you go through and answer questions on what you will actually do to help stop global warming and be a good neighbor. Everything you choose is worth a certain value of points. You cannot be considered a good neighbor until you have reached 20 points. This means that you have cut your carbon footprint by 2% each year for two years. If all of your neighbors did this that would equal a huge reduction of Co2 each year! Perhaps this would be a good association or community program to participate in? Take the pledge to reduce your carbon footprint and be a good neighbor and don’t be afraid to flaunt that!
I'm a mom who wants alternatives for my children and safe choices. My family has had problem with springtails in our home for three years and have tried everything! We spent thousands on pesticides before I knew better and this made me very, very ill. I have finally found a product that works, has solved my bug problem and is safe! You don't have to use chemicals or pesticides, buy here to help me keep spreading my message! Visit me at www.greenandcleanmom.org for more ideas on going green!
